Southsands Badminton Club was formed in 1999/2000 with the merger of Southbank Rd and Sandgrounders creating 8 teams, in 2002/2003 All Souls and Sacred Heart merged with Southsands creating a ninth team.

In 2008/2009 Ainsdale also joined the club providing a 2nd Division team, they currently have 10 teams in most divisions along with a thriving junior section and junior teams.
